A slam on the desk caught Ed's eye, as he was pulled away from filling in a rather long drawn-out form regarding Gotham's housing problem. He looked up to noticed a rather irritated and angry looking Oswald, clutching his penguin cane within his white knuckles.

"Two hours! I can't believe I had to stand in front of those pesky reporters for two whole hours!"

He huffed; his eyes nearly bulging out of his head and his cheeks red with anger. Ed swallowed thickly and laid down his pen. He was used to Oswald and his outbursts regarding his Mayoral duties. They sometimes didn't agree with him.

"Mayor Cobblepot- perhaps a drink would be in order?"

Ed raised en eyebrow and got up from the desk, opening the drinks cabinet and reaching for the whiskey. A moment later he had filled a glass with the liquid to the halfway mark, passing it to his angry boss. Oswald was still huffing, as he took the glass and nearly downed the brown liquid in one. Oh, he was pissed. He hadn't forgotten his manners though, as he offered Ed his thanks.

"Thank you, Ed. This day has just been so horrible- just a disaster. I just wanted to shoot the last reporter and see his brains get blown out on the sidewalk. That moron!"

Ed couldn't suppress a slow smile which was rapidly spreading over his face. He loved Oswald and knew when he was angry. Part of him enjoyed seeing his friend get angry and see the rage spill forth. The perks of being the Mayor of Gotham's Chief of Staff. He had an idea that would hopefully calm the poor man down.

"Oswald, you've been working much too hard lately. I suggest a time-out."

He moved so that he was directly in front of the other man, offering him a soothing hand that was now on Oswald's shoulder. Ed slowly moved the hand off and embraced his friend in a close hug. He knew how much Oswald enjoyed being hugged and now seemed like the perfect moment.

"I-oh-"

Oswald was lost for words when he was suddenly hugged by the taller man. He placed his glass down close by and wrapped both arms around him. Ed nuzzled into Oswald's neck, inhaling his familiar scent, enjoying the closeness between them. They needed to do this more often; much more often. The days seemed to be swallowed up by work and duties, which hardly left any time at all for them to be together. It was a working relationship.

Ed massaged Oswald's back gently with his hand, feeling the other man's back and noticed how tense he was. Oswald leant into Ed's touch, enjoying the sensation of being this close to his lover. He could just melt into his every touch. Just a simple hug could bring so much pleasure to Oswald, even more than a kiss.

"Thank you, Ed. For this-"

Oswald didn't know what else to say but then froze when he felt Ed's lips descending on his own. How did he even move that fast? He allowed Ed to kiss him, opening up his mouth slightly, so that the other man could slide a tongue in, massaging his own. A soft groan slipped from the back of his throat, as Oswald got totally lost within the moment. He felt as if he were drifting endlessly through a tunnel, never to emerge from the other side. Ed's lips danced with Oswald's in a slow, sensuous dance, tasting the whiskey on the other man's tongue. The two finally broke apart with Oswald panting slightly, his cheeks a nice rosy colour and Ed's equally as tinged. They were breathing a little faster and Ed could feel the lust and want creeping up the insides of his legs, as he gazed down at the image of a flustered Oswald. God, it was so hot.

"Oswald- I-"

He didn't know what to say. Right now, his mind was doing awful things to him, making him think up erotic scenarios with Oswald. He wanted to do things to him. To make him beg....

"It's alright. I understand. It's the stress. Totally understandable."

Oswald laughed a little nervously; his eyes wide and innocent, whilst his hands twitched at the sides of his body. He was nervous as hell and had no idea why he was thinking of suddenly becoming that much closer to Ed. Even more than just hugging the man. What was he thinking?! Ed licked his lips and composed himself. He couldn't allow himself to become unprofessional, at least not now. They were at work!

"Yes, quite. Totally understandable as you say, Mayor Cobblepot."

There was an awkward silence as they both stood facing one another not speaking. They just locked eyes and fidgeted slightly. It was then that Ed coughed and broke the silence, whilst looking behind him back at the desk with his work on it.

"I'd better get back to work. I have a lot to read about the state of Gotham's housing. Fancy that."

He offered Oswald a smile and sat back down at his desk. Oswald, went to open his mouth to say something but snapped it back shut. He couldn't speak. Ed had to get on with his work and quite rightly so. Instead, he downed the rest of his drink and forced a thin smile.

"Always the worker! That's what I like about you, Ed Nygma."

Oswald gripped his cane once more and walked out of the room up to his bedroom. Perhaps he could get a few hours rest. He damn needed it.

...

Ed woke up staring at the ceiling in his bed alone. Another dream about him and Oswald, yet this one had been much more involved. Perhaps, there was hope yet.
